Come experience the beauty and majesty of the western North Carolina mountains.
Black Mountain has a quieter pace than Asheville, yet is
only 20 minutes from the Biltmore Estate and other attractions
in the area. We have quaint shops, art studios, antique shops and great
restaurants, or you can head to the wilderness of the Blue Ridge Mountains
for some serious hiking adventures.
Close to downtown Black Mountain, Cabin Creek is an easy five minute
drive to most conference centers, including Montreat Conference Center
and Montreat College, Ridgecrest Conference Center, The
Blue Ridge Assembly (YMCA) and Billy Graham's The Cove Training
Center. Many of the summer camps for kids are located nearby including
Camp Merrimac and Timberlake, Camp Rockmont, Crestridge
and others. Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain (about
1.5 miles into town) has a public pool, fishing, playground, tennis
courts and community pavilion and club house can be reserved for larger
groups. In the summer free concerts in the park draw the locals
on Thursday nights. There is a great public golf course with
the longest hole in the country (749 yards) and a public traditional
English style croquet court. Montreat College and Conference center is a mile
the other way with Lake Susan providing the reflecting waters
and waterfall that serves Flat Creek which runs by the cabins.
There is a wonderful creekside playground and natural beauty
of rhododendron and mountain laurel for inspiration.
